"Gift of Wonder", by Rev. Alfred McBride, O. Praem.
🔌 "Each year, God asks us to shed one more coat of awareness, one more dream state and come alive to the vision of God’s plan for each of us and the world-at-large.
🔌 "The older we get, the harder this is to do. As children we had a sense of wonder. Our eyes were wide open and drinking in the fascinating gifts we beheld…Our thirsty souls could not have enough of the wonders of creation.
🔌 "Then, somehow, we grew too old to dream. We tired of the abundance of the world, or at least grew weary of keeping up with the feast of life, and stepped away from the banquet of life.
🔌 "The natural gift of wonder God gave us as children was meant to be kept alive.…Instead we let wonder go to sleep. We entered the typical dream state of most humans.
🔌 "Why else does Jesus tell us today, ‘Stay awake!’…Advent says, ‘Wake up and realize the gifts of love you have received.’
🔌 "…Psychology says, ‘Let go.’ Spirituality says, ‘Wake up.’ In both cases there is a withdrawal from the busyness of daily life (our dream state) and a waking up to the subconscious and spiritual depths of ourselves."

You make spiritual progress by beginning again and again". By St Francis De Sales
it were, a germ of Christ in them, or a seed of Christ. This seed of Christ grows and flowers in them as they correspond to grace, and the whole object of a Christian is to become “another Christ”—that means, to become Christ: the word “other” or “another” is used just to remind us that though we are capable of being absolutely one with Him, there is all the same an otherness about God, otherwise we couldn’t adore and serve Him; also though, through grace, we are identified with Him. This is a free gift won for us by the Incarnation of Christ, and we are still men dependent on Him for our very being.” By Caryll Houselander
Olympic contests, but he who is struck, wins the crown. This is the law in the celestial theatre, where the Angels are the spectators". By St. John Chrysostom
thy soul, for which treasure the wise merchant gave all that he had, it will be fitting that, in order to find it, thou forget all that is thine, withdraw thyself from all creatures, and hide in the interior closet of the Spirit". By St. John of the cross
During my Eucharistic Adoration Holy Hour one day, what was written down, was later confirmed in a refreshing way. A part of my Advent Regimen this year is to continue reading from the book "Advent of the Heart", which was begun last year. God willing, next year the goal of completion should be achieved. This year, how neat to find myself at the spot complementing the words written earlier while at the Adoration Chapel. Fr. Alfred Delp, S.J. said:
"...Through this Word that God has spoken into the world, the goodness and loving-kindness of God have appeared, so that we know and seriously must recognize ourselves as the substance of a divine commitment to man. Since then, God has taken no other position in relation to us than this “benignitas et humanitas [goodness and loving-kindness]”. Because God’s commitment upholds each and every one of us, even to the extent of His sharing in the very poorest and most helpless phase of human infancy, He has fully realized and made Himself accessible in the Incarnation. And now, in the background, our great, gruesome time stands up. “Not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but by virtue of His own mercy”
deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit"
The second thing we need to know is that it is not because man is proud and worthy, but because God upholds us. Man needs to know that we live from grace; we live from God’s merciful commitment to mankind, from His mercy. Not as miserable wretches, however, but renewed in spirit; so that we know our intrinsic dignity, know that we are raised up above and beyond all else, because we mean so much to God"
Holy Hour
It is my pleasure and good will to shower blessings and graces upon my people with untold love. My love was proved by the sacrifice of my life on Calvary, need I do anything more? It is excessiveness that I treasure and delight in when dealing with my own. Take note of the small insignificant details that I make a priority. Overlook not the miracles that happen daily. Most blest are those who see with their spiritual eyes and act accordingly. I am He who loves you so much, draw near me, and day by day let us become as one. I desire the deepest intimacy which will continue for all eternity. What has begun will never end, rejoice and be glad.
Turned at random to the book of Hebrews, chapter two. The following verses stood out:
various acts of power, and distribution of the gifts of the holy Spirit according to his will"
“What is man that you are mindful of him, or the son of man that you care for him? You made him for a little while lower than the angels;you crowned him with glory and honor, subjecting all things under his feet.”
and the children God has given me.”
in every way, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God to expiate the sins of the people"
My Response- What a glorious future that awaits us all. Those who seek shall, shall find the kingdom of their heart's desire. How blessed are we right here and now to have God ever before us, behind, beneath, above, and around us. Halleluia, we don't have to wait for heaven for intimacy. Thanks so much dear God, thank you for caring for us all, in a way that exceeds what is possible by anyone else, past, present, mor future. Glory to you Lord God, glory in the highest. Blessed be you name forever and forever. May my life proclaim that you are Lord, may your way overshadow my way, as I decrease and you increase in me. That all people might give you lovingly their whole heart and never count the cost.

"THE MAGIC BANK ACCOUNT", THE AUTHOR IS NOT KNOWN. IT WAS FOUND IN THE BILLFOLD OF COACH PAUL BEAR BRYANT, ALABAMA, AFTER HE DIED IN 1982
“Imagine that you had won the following PRIZE in a contest: Each morning your bank would deposit $86,400 in your private account for your use. However, this prize has rules: The set of rules:
💢 1. Everything that you didn't spend during each day would be taken away from you.
💢 2. You may not simply transfer money into some other account.
💢3. You may only spend it.
💢4. Each morning upon awakening, the bank opens your account with another $86,400 for that day.
💢5. The bank can end the game without warning; at any time it can say,“Game Over!” It can close the account and you will not receive a new one.
What would you personally do? You would buy anything and everything you wanted right? Not only for yourself, but for all the people you love and care for. Even for people you don't know, because you couldn't possibly spend it all on yourself, right? You would
try to spend every penny, and use it all, because you knew it would be replenished in the morning, right?
ACTUALLY, This GAME is REAL… Shocked ??? YES! Each of us is already a winner of this PRIZE. We just can't seem to see it. The PRIZE is TIME:
✝ 1. Each morning we awaken to receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of life.
✝ 2. And when we go to sleep at night, any remaining time is Not credited to us.
✝ 3. What we haven't used up that day is forever lost.
✝ 4. Yesterday is forever gone.
✝ 5. Each morning the account is refilled, but the bank can dissolve your account at any time WITHOUT WARNING…
SO, what will YOU do with your 86,400 seconds? Those seconds are worth so much more than the same amount in dollars. Think about it and remember to enjoy every second of your life, because time races by so much quicker than you think.

Prayer of Indulgence
" May the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merits of the blessed Virgin Mary and the saints, and all the good you do and the suffering you endure, gain for you the remission of your sins, increase of grace, and the reward of everlasting life. R.: Amen."
Commentary on the "Prayer of Indulgence", by Fr. Christopher J. Pollard

"Immediately following is a “Prayer of Indulgence” which some of us have heard with increasing regularity in our ordinary confessions. It offers beautiful insight into the dispositions of soul which we must maintain if the sacramental grace we have received is to continue to bring forth its fruit within us:
May the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merits of the blessed Virgin Mary and the saints, and all the good you do and the suffering you endure, gain for you the remission of your sins, increase of grace, and the reward of everlasting life. Amen.
An old manual says of this last invocation “This prayer of the Church’s minster in the liturgical action of the sacrament is very effective for the remission of those temporal punishments which we still have to undergo after our sins have been forgiven,” a helpful reminder before we begin our observance of Lent."
Seems like a perfect time to share this recent prayer that crossed my path. My aunt Nora was devoted to, and promoted the novena to the Infant Jesus of Prague to us, and people who found themselves in need, but the chaplet was unfamiliar to me. In my search for videos about monks, (GO MONKS!), found the ones at Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey requesting that the Chaplet be prayed to help them finish their much needed construction.
Link to the Chaplet: http://www.clearcreekmonks.org/_events/clear-creek-abbey-Infant-Jesus-chaplet-guide.html
In their words: "While we hope to finish building the church as soon as possible, we are also constructing more temporary buildings in order to have enough monastic cells for our growing numbers, and the necessary workshops for our manual labor".
Infant Jesus Chaplet
"Begin with the Sign of the Cross, and then pray a 'Pater noster' on each of the first three beads (just above the medal of the Infant Jesus), to render homage to the Most Holy Trinity through the 3 persons of the Holy Family.
Pray an 'Ave Maria' on each of the twelve beads (saying 'Et Verbum caro factum est' before each 'Ave'), in honor of the first 12 years of Jesus' life on earth, and of the mysteries of His childhood, namely:
➖1. The Annunciation of the Lord
➖2. The Visitation
➖3. The Expectaion of the Birth of Jesus
➖4. The Nativity
➖5. The Circumcision
➖6. The Adoration of the Magi
➖7. The Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple
➖8. The flight into Egypt
➖9. The sojourn of the Child Jesus in Egypt
➖10. The return of the Holy Family to Nazareth
➖11. The finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple
➖12. The Hidden life of the Holy Family at Nazareth
The Chaplet is ended with this prayer: 'Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, into your hands, living and dying, I commend my spirit' (or 'Jesu, Maria et Joseph, in manus vestras, vivens et moriens, commendo spiritum meum'), the 'Glory be' (or 'Gloria Patri'), and the Sign of the Cross."
