🔵"The more I go, the more I realize that we receive what we need WHEN we need it, and not before. Being an only child I used to worry what would happen if my mother died first -- or if my father died first. God gives us what we need when we need it. As a chaplain, and seeing many cancer patients, I used to wonder how I would deal with it if I were diagnosed with cancer. When the time came -- God gave me what I needed. Hopefully we won't be called upon for the ultimate -- martyrdom!" By Sr. Rose
🔗MC=Thanks for everything. You keep me growing and on the right path. For sure find myself lacking in the proper fortitude for suffering for the faith. My prayers are to be graced more and more to be as Christ would have me be to bring glory to His Name, as, or when called. (Praise The Lord, sister is still in remission)

🔵"A very special day for our Bible group, when we concluded the 33 Days to Morning Glory, a Do it yourself Retreat In Preparation for a Marian Consecration. What a beautiful experience! It is the Marian Consecration in the style of St. Louis De Montfort, but what is added is the spirituality of the Saints that followed him, like St. John Paul II, St. Maximilian Kolbe, and Blessed Mother Theresa. I learned so much, by reading this book, and the Consecration was beautiful! I plan to keep reading the book, since you can learn so much time and time again. I think I want to make my own journal, because it is a journey as we grow every day in our relationship with Jesus through our Mother Mary, and eventually with the whole TRINITY. The journey is never an individual one, it is a journey to include the whole world. Not only by our example, but by our offering every single act, our possessions, and our whole life to Mary. We must be like a newborn child, naked of all our good works, so Our Blessed Mother can apply everything to those that are most in need of God's graces. When we die, our Blessed Mother will dress us in her own garments, so we should never be afraid of consecrating ourselves, yes, be not afraid, do this! That is why St. John Paul II, apostolic motto was: "Totus Tuus". It is for sure, he lived it to the fullest, and taught us to live by that principle also!" By Maribelle:-)
🔗MC=Smelling the smoke and feeling the heat through your email, praise The Lord. Used that book last year for round two, led again to make my Total Consecration to Blessed Immaculata. Elated about purchasing the ebook, the only thing missing was the study guide. Did you all have the guide? It's so fitting that you would get many blessings. Does not the scripture say the following:
📖 Matthew 25:29 "For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away"
Maribelle, it is quite evident that you have the Holy Spirit, and that the Holy Spirit have you. Thanks for sharing your experience, it will make a tasty Cheese & Cracker to bless others besides myself, and hopefully spawn more consecrations. May someone be inspired to start their Total Consecration on Oct. 19th, the next Marian Feast day on which to begin. If you so desire, don't wait, just have at it.

📖 Psalm 16:7 "I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me"
Woke up with the following on my mind almost a month ago. That was probably due to the fact that before going to bed for the night, time was spent listening to Fr. Joseph Iannuzzi's video about living in the Divine Will. This is what was on my mind:
If we accept God's sublimity, we will be more than happy to live in His Divine will as revealed to us. How blessed it is to be able to know, and have the perfect path exposed before us. What a blessing to be able to choose the path shown that will afford us safe traveling on an error free road. All that transpires will be allowed by God, and not happenstance. On our own, we will never be able to do what will contribute to our greatest good, nor to that of others, and for sure never to the perfect Glory of God. It should be constant thanks that we unfailingly render to God for the opportunity to know, and be given the grace to do His will if that is what we desire. Gone should be the pride and the exhibition of sheer ignorance in our wanting to blindly navigate our our way, doing our own thing, as we please, how we please, and when we please. Lord have mercy on us, when we cop that attitude.
Having this cycle through my brains, proved beneficial when doing the daily exercise for "Day 1" in the "How to Pray the Dominican Way" app.
📖 free Pdf copy link: "The Nine Ways of Prayer by St. Dominic" http://www.op.org.au/laity/manual/six.pdf
The scripture reading for "day one" comes from Psalms 25, verses 8-22.
📖 Psalms 25:8-22 "Because the Lord is righteous and good, He teaches sinners the path they should follow. He leads the humble in the right way and teaches them His will. With faithfulness and love He leads all who keep His covenant and obey His commands. Keep Your promise, Lord, and forgive my sins, for they are many. Those who have reverence for the Lord will learn from Him the path they should follow. They will always be prosperous, and their children will possess the land. The Lord is the friend of those who obey Him and He affirms His covenant with them. I look to the Lord for help at all times, and He rescues me from danger. Turn to me, Lord, and be merciful to me, because I am lonely and weak. Relieve me of my worries and save me from all my troubles. Consider my distress and suffering and forgive all my sins. See how many enemies I have; see how much they hate me. Protect me and save me; keep me from defeat. I come to You for safety. May my goodness and honesty preserve me, because I trust in You. From all their troubles, O God, save Your people Israel!"
It was verses 12-13 that helped me recall what came to mind earlier that morning:
📖 Psalm 25:12-13 "Those who have reverence for the Lord will learn from Him the path they should follow. They will always be prosperous, and their children will possess the land"
In the contemplation, it speaks about our not being able to do on our own what can contribute to our greatest good, that reinforced what was said in the book about the Lord teaching us the right path that we should follow. The transmission connection from head to heart did not time out or fail this time. Convinced of the necessity to always be led by God, but concupiscence is always lurking in the background. We do have the victory in Christ, let us follow the instructions given in Colossians 3:1 and 3:5. This is the one and only way to prosper spiritually, and for that matter, the only way to truly prosper in any way that proves to be sustaining and lasting.
📖 Colossians 3:1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
📖 Colossians 3:5 Put to death, then, the parts of you that are earthly: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and the greed that is idolatry.

"Substantial Changes for You", a sermon from Fr. Carroll, shared by Linda
"You may have never heard of Blessed Alexandrina daCosta, but she has an amazing story. She was born in Portugal, back in 1904. When she was 14 yrs old, something happened that changed her life. While she and her sister and a friend were in the house alone, three men who had been drinking broke into the house. One of these was a farmer who had treated her badly in the past. When they got in, he tried to take advantage of Alexandrina. With only one way of escape, she jumped from the upstairs window to preserve her purity. She not only permanently damaged her spine but, within a short time, she was completely paralyzed and bedridden. But rather than be angry, she offered her sufferings to God and people knew that they were witnessing a saint in their midst.
What's especially relevant for us today is that for the last 13 yrs of her life, she lived exclusively on Holy Communion. In the history of the Church, there have only been a handful of saints that have lived only on the Eucharist. At one point, she was put through a hospital evaluation for 40 days. The doctor in charge had serious doubts that this miracle was authentic so he treated her badly. However, by the end, he had come to believe that a miracle was occurring. He wrote "We testify that her abstinence was absolute during all the time. We also testify that her weight, temperature, breathing, blood pressure, pulse remained normal. The laws of physiology and biochemistry cannot account for the survival of this sick woman." (in other words, 'its miraculous.') When asked why God was allowing this, the Lord told her "You are living on the Eucharist alone because I want to prove to the world, the power of the Eucharist and the power of my life in souls." So, basically God allowed the miracle of this holy woman to point to an even greater miracle in our midst, the Holy Eucharist.
I bring this story up because Jesus reveals the Eucharist for the very first time in the gospel. It comes from his sermon in the seaside town of Capernaum. Outside of the Last Supper, it is the longest single teaching of Jesus in the NT. That tells us that He is revealing something momentous and important. He said “I am the bread come down from heaven", he says “I am the BREAD of life.” But, so that there is no confusion, He tells us explicitly “The bread I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”
In this sermon at Capernaum, the Eucharist is still a promise. It was at the Last Supper that His promise was fulfilled and the miracle was passed on to the Church. Jesus took a piece of unleavened bread and said over it: “This is my body” and then over a cup of wine “This is the chalice of my blood.” For these words to be true, something miraculous would have had to taken place. While the apostles continue to see and taste bread and wine, Jesus declares that it has now become His body and blood. Some would say that Jesus meant this only symbolically. We now know that there were over 200 ways for Jesus to say that this symbolized or represented his body. Yet, He used the ONLY way to say this is TRULY and LITERALLY my body and blood.
Therefore, for this miracle to have occurred, it involves two parts. FIRST, he changed the bread and wine into his body and blood. SECOND, the appearances of bread and wine remained, even though there was no longer any bread or wine present. What the apostles saw is the same miracle we witness during the Consecration at every Mass.
There is a word for the miraculous change, "transubstantiation", which means that one substance is changed into another substance. It simply means that the bread and wine at the Last Supper, and on this altar, are changed into the Body and blood of Christ WITHOUT changing how they appear to the senses.
Now, you and I have never ever seen a substance. We have only seen, smelled, heard, felt the appearances. When you look at the person next to you, you are not looking at their human nature but rather at their body which manifests their humanness. When we look at bread and wine, we are not looking at the substance of bread and wine but rather the appearances.
Normally, if bread and wine were changed, we'd know it because their appearance would also change. We have an example of this with the miracle at Cana. There he changed the water into wine. In this He changed not only the water but the qualities into wine.
This all sounds pretty incredible and if it came from anyone else but Christ, we might not believe it. In fact, this is exactly why Jesus gave this sermon we have just read-precisely, to prepare us for the mystery and the miracle of the Eucharist. There is no doubt that this is certainly within God’s power to do. If He can create the entire universe from nothing, and every Christian believes that. If He can change water into wine, and all Christians believe that. Then, certainly, he can change bread and wine into his body and blood and He can cause the appearances of bread and wine to remain behind. Really, our question should be not CAN God do it but WHY does God do it? Why does God give His Body and Blood to us under the appearances of bread and wine?
First of all, Christ wants us to realize that He gives himself to nourish us. Just as food and drink nourish the body, Christ wants to nourish our soul. This is one reason why He keeps the appearances of bread and wine. Every time we partake of Holy Communion, we are reminded that we are sharing in a sacred meal which feeds us spiritually with holiness and immortality. That's why its called the Bread "of Heaven" and "of Angels".
Secondly, Christ comes to us this way because if we could truly see Who it is that we are receiving, we would be in such awe that we would be fearful to approach. We would be blinded by our sinfulness and unworthiness and we'd forget God’s mercy and love for us. The prophet Isaiah saw a vision of the Seraphim in heaven which are the highest choir of angel, which means they are the nearest to God. Yet, Isaiah says they used their wings to veil their faces and their feet to show their unworthiness to look at and stand before God. If that's how an angel behaves in God's presence, imagine what it'd be like for us!
And finally, God comes to us in this way to strengthen our faith. As St Paul says "We walk by faith, not by sight." And as Christ said to St.Thomas "You believe because you've seen but more blessed are those who do not see and yet still believe." We are called upon and challenged to believe not because of whatour five senses can prove but because of what God has spoken. That's what it means to walk in faith. Christianity is a religion of miracles: Incarnation, Immaculate conception, Resurrection as well as the Holy Eucharist. Therefore Faith is ESSENTIAL to our journey and growth.
As Catholics, we believe that Christ is both REAL and PRESENT to us in the Eucharist. What a gift we have been given-what a treasure we possess-but what a responsibility we have to love, respect and honor God in our midst. Let us never forget that at every Mass, only a thin veil of bread and wine separates us from the Face of God, BUT not from His Real Presence!! May His Presence be our strength and our nourishment on life's journey!!!!
