☂Holy Week
Jesus to St. Faustiana "These two rays issued forth from the very depths of My tender mercy when my agonized Heart was opened by a lance on the Cross. (Diary, 299)"
John 19: 38, 84 "But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was dead already, they broke not his legs: but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was dead already, they broke not his legs: but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water” |
MC= Let us not just go with the flow, but place great value on the Sacraments, worthily receiving them as the treasures they are.
The Rule of St. Benedict
"Let the oratory be what its name implies, and let nothing else be done or kept there. When the Work of God is finished, let all go out in deep silence, and let reverence for God be observed, so that any brother who may wish to pray privately be not hindered by another’s misbehaviour. And at other times also, if anyone wish to pray secretly, let him go in simply and pray; not in a loud voice, but with tears and fervour of heart. He, therefore, who does not behave so, shall not be permitted to remain in the oratory when the Work of God is ended, as we have said, lest another should thereby suffer hindrance."
MC= That all might come to realize that in church we fellowship with God and outside of the church we fellowship with one another. Praise God for the ones who are in church praying and not talking, and may God highly bless those who have understood and hearken to the message of reverence. Maybe what is coming from the mouth of St. Benedict might help someone take heed, then again it may not as this scripture may be applicable:

Hopefully it can be a pleasure and delight for God as one hears and responds:
🔴There are no disappointments to those whose wills are buried in the will of God.' By Father Frederick Faber
🌑 "Christ gave totally of himself on Calvary. His death on the cross took on our sins and brought heaven and earth back together again, healing the broken bond that original sin had brought. Our bodies and our souls were never meant to be separated. But Adam and Eve at the taste of original sin, “knew they were naked” and invited the corruption and disunity into the world". By St. John Paul II
🎾“And without quiescence of the senses, peace of mind cannot be perceived. And without entering into temptations, spiritual wisdom cannot be acquired. And without constant reciting, subtlety of thought cannot be learned. And without the deliberations being set at peace the mind cannot be moved by hidden mysteries. And without the confidence of faith one cannot venture to throw his soul amidst sorrowful and hard circumstances. Without the practical experience of God's care the heart is not able to confide in God. And when the soul does not taste sufferings for the sake of Christ, it is not united with Him in knowledge.” By St. Isaac of Nineveh

We haven't been treated to a bit of Mae's wisdom for a while, so it was a treat to get a call from her. A conversation that occurred the day after the recent Charismatic Conference ended was perfect. It was a divinely inspired by God for sure. She recounted to me how she sensed God was displeased with the way she was thinking about a certain person. Wanted to say: Well Mae, you are not the only one sailing on that ship. Her antenna for sensing when her realationship with God is strained is phenomenal. When the slightest ripple appears on the waters of her soul, she quickly notices and responds by going to confession. Boy, is that a road that it would do us all well to travel. She started the conversation by reflecting on how we are so far from God. Many people may be concentrating on just the opposite, well maybe not, but more often than not people crossing my path aren't extremely concerned about tweaking and fine tuning their spiritual lives towards perfection. Mediocrity and lukewarmness seems to be very common.
Mae went on to express how we may often think that we have it going on, how we are so running with the Lord, where in actuality we may be standing still, going backwards, or on a treadmill in la la land. She said
we mess up our lives with things that are so unnecessary, often getting tripped up by a web that we have spun with our own disordered thoughts. Like yeast, this causes actions to rise that leads us into sin and to behave in ways that are definitely not pleasing to God. That is the predicament that she found herself recently in with this person at church. There is no doubt in my mind, God tapped Mae on the shoulder and said, please share your thoughts, because there is someone (me and maybe you) who desperately needs to hear what you have to say, be convicted and inspired to make a change for the love of God, self, and neighbor)
Mae gets to the meat of the story by saying that it all began when the person who normally leads the Rosary was absent:
"Someone else stepped up to the plate and attempted to lead the Rosary before Mass. The person who helped out is a lector, and does well in that ministry, but was inept in leading the Rosary. My thinking was that the person may not have been a cradle Catholic because it looked like notes were compiled that were being used. It appears the notes got out of order which caused the person to get all mixed up. I thought to myself: it's no way this person is praying the rosary at home, because one would know more than the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be. All the other prayers like the Mysteries, the St. Michael the Archangel prayer, etc. are also a part of the rosary, and one should know those and the order in which they are prayed. Because the person was unfamiliar and reading from notes, confusion continued for a while.
How sad is it that immediately my thoughts were: This is a person who doesn't even know how to pray the Rosary. Instead of saying that and some other things, my thoughts should have immediately turned towards prayer. I should have thought that maybe the person was never taught how to properly pray the Rosary. I should have been saying to the Lord: "Help the person to learn the rosary and I know you are pleased with the efforts given here today. In time O God, you will have the person learn, and if you need me to teach the person, I am willing to do so".
After my conversation with Mae it became very clear this she was serving as a guest lecturer in this spiritual class that the Lord would have me enroll in. When you are in spiritual school one can expect at any minute or hour to be exposed to a lesson and given a homework assignment to complete. My assignment was to meditate on the teachable points of the conversation, and use that as a springboard to change. It was clear to see that so much that is unnecessary crosses our minds and diverts our attention away from godliness and purity of intentions. We do need to learn to dwell on the things that builds up & not on what that tears down.

This conversation with Mae really summarized the lesson that was a part of the recent Lenten mission retreat given by Fr. Larry. It came to mind how we have to begin to think like Jesus. So in Mae's case, as it is in mine's, the bottom line is that our thinking must be transformed so that our feelings will be proper to appropriate behavior leading to Jesus & the Blessed Mother not having to say to me over and over: don't embarrass me, no! This came in a meditation after the charismatic conference.
The original lesson was to not act on feelings. That led to my wondering how to curb my feelings or to work on eliminating negative feelings period. The answer came from the Lenten retreat, then reiterated by Mae, that we must transform our thinking. Our thinking like Jesus will change the way we behave. God reads our hearts and will not have to say: 'don't embarrass me no!", if we behave in a manner that makes Him proud. It is prayer that will help us achieve our goal. So if you think right, your feelings will follow along those lines and be right, then your behavior will be a reflection of what is positive and not what is negative.

"St. Alphonsus Mary Liguori, Bishop and Doctor of the Church, Founder of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer — the Redemptorists — and patron saint of moral theology scholars and confessors. St. Alphonsus is one of the most popular saints of the 18th century because of his simple, immediate style and his teaching on the sacrament of Penance. In a period of great rigorism, a product of the Jansenist influence, he recommended that confessors administer this sacrament expressing the joyful embrace of God the Father. To reflect on St. Alphonsus’ teaching on prayer which is particularly valuable and full of spiritual inspiration. His Treatise on The Great Means of Prayer, which he considered the most useful of all his writings, dates back to the year 1759. Indeed, he describes prayer as “a necessary and certain means of obtaining salvation, and all the graces that we require for that object ” (Introduction). This sentence sums up the way St. Alphonsus understood prayer.
First of all, by saying that it is a means, he reminds us of the goal to be reached. God created us out of love in order to be able to give us life in its fullness; but this goal, this life in fullness, has as it were become distant because of sin — we all know it — and only God’s grace can make it accessible. To explain this basic truth and to make people understand with immediacy how real the risk of “being lost” is for human beings, St. Alphonsus coined a famous, very elementary maxim which says: “Those who pray will be saved and those who do not will be damned!”. Commenting on this lapidary sentence, he added, “In conclusion, to save one’s soul without prayer is most difficult, and even (as we have seen) impossible... But by praying our salvation is made secure, and very easy” (II, Conclusion). And he says further: “if we do not pray, we have no excuse, because the grace of prayer is given to everyone... if we are not saved, the whole fault will be ours; and we shall have our own failure to answer for, because we did not pray”.
By saying, then, that prayer is a necessary means, St Alphonsus wanted us to understand that in no situation of life can we do without prayer, especially in times of trial and difficulty. We must always knock at the door of the Lord confidently, knowing that he cares for all his children, for us. For this reason we are asked not to be afraid to turn to him and to present our requests to him with trust, in the certainty of receiving what we need.
Dear friends, this is the main question: what is really necessary in my life? I answer with St Alphonsus: “Health and all the graces that we need”. He means of course not only the health of the body, but first of all that of the soul, which Jesus gives us. More than anything else we need his liberating presence which makes us truly fully human and hence fills our existence with joy. And it is only through prayer that we can receive him and his grace, which, by enlightening us in every situation, helps us to discern true good and by strengthening us also makes our will effective, that is, renders it capable of doing what we know is good. We often recognize what is good but are unable to do it. With prayer we succeed in doing it. The disciple of the Lord knows he is always exposed to temptation and does not fail to ask God’s help in prayer in order to resist it.
St Alphonsus very interestingly cites the example of St Philip Neri who “the very moment when he awoke in the morning, said to God: ‘Lord, keep Thy hands over Philip this day; for if not, Philip will betray Thee’”. What a great realist! He asks God to keep his hands upon him. We too, aware of our weakness, must humbly seek God’s help, relying on his boundless mercy. St Alphonsus says in another passage: “We are so poor that we have nothing; but if we pray we are no longer poor. If we are poor, God is rich”. And, following in St. Augustine’s wake, he invites all Christians not to be afraid to obtain from God, through prayer, the power they do not possess that is necessary in order to do good, in the certainty that the Lord will not refuse his help to whoever prays to him with humility.
Dear friends, St Alphonsus reminds us that the relationship with God is essential in our life. Without the relationship with God, the fundamental relationship is absent. The relationship with God is brought into being in conversation with God, in daily personal prayer and with participation in the sacraments. This relationship is thus able to grow within us, as can the divine presence that directs us on our way, illuminates it and makes it safe and peaceful even amidst difficulties and perils. Many thanks."

"Over the past year or so people have come to me over and over again asking me to pray for their families. Parents estranged from children. Children angry with parents. Spouses at war. Siblings who don’t speak. Family members chained by addictions of all kinds. Family members who are sick and caregivers who are exhausted. I feel like I am seeing the front lines of the attack on and suffering of the Family.
In my prayer I have felt our Lady tell me over and over again that she is in union with the Divine will. She is all things relationship with the Trinity. Daughter of the Father, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, and Mother of the Son. She knows union with God and we can, by following her example, have loving relationships with one another.
This week in my prayers I very clearly heard her tell me that she wants to heal Families. That she is Our Lady Healer of Families and she wants a devotion under this title. She asked me to have an Icon painted and a Litany written. But she didn’t want me to write it. She identified to me who she wanted to do these two things. My cousin, Kathleen Carr, to paint the Icon, and a friend of mine to write the Litany. She called them both, “My daughters, my friends.” I called both my cousin and my friend. My cousin informed me she had prayed only the night before about what to paint next — and then I called her in the morning. She was amazed and quickly said she would do it so I gave her the parameters I saw in my prayer. Her Icon will be part two of this post. Please keep her in prayer as she paints.
My friend also agreed to write the Litany but has asked that her name be withheld and that you focus solely on the prayer. I decided to post the prayer even though the Painting isn’t ready because in the past two days I have had multiple people come to me asking for prayers for their families. I was told in prayer to promulgate this Litany and so I am posting it now. We will also be rolling out a full Novena with the painting. The Novena will be prayed for 9 days and then saying a Rosary. So without further ado here is the Litany:

Oh Most Immaculate Virgin, Daughter of God the Father, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, and Mother of Jesus Christ our Savior, you are the perfect example of human relationship with the Divine Will. Help us, O Most Holy Mother, to heal the broken bonds within our families, our friendships, and all our other relationships. Help us to love others the way that Christ loves us with self-sacrificing love. In particular, heal my relationship with (state intentions here). Intercede for us O Holy Daughter, Spouse, and Mother, so that through the mercy of God, the chains of division will be broken, uniting us once again as you are ever united to the Most Holy Trinity. We ask this in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."
