"By the faith the soul travels protected against the devil, its strongest and craftiest foe; and St. Peter knew of no stronger defence against him when he said: “Resist him, strong in faith"
MTA= If for sure we believe as the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, what God is saying to us in scripture and in the teachings of our church, then we will be rock solid in our resistance. It would be a given, because anything not aligning with what we wholeheartedly believe would be rejected in a heart beat. To doubt God, is where the crack opens for lies to penetrate and weaken our faith.

1 Peter 5:8-9 "Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering" |
🔵 “When gold has been purified up to twenty-four carats, it can no longer be consumed by any fire; not gold itself but only dross can be burnt away. Thus the divine fire works in the soul: God holds the soul in the fire until its every imperfection is burnt away and it is brought to perfection, as it were to the purity of twenty-four carats, each soul however according to its own degree. When the soul has been purified it stays wholly in God". By St. Catherine of Genoa
🔴 "Thus throughout her life the soul is occupied with the lesson of Christ-like humility, and so long as she lacks humility wrong thoughts and impulses will always torment her. But the humble soul finds the rest and the peace which is spoken of by the Lord". By St. Silouan
⚪️ “We must carry Jesus in our hearts to wherever He wants to go, and there are many places to which He may never go unless we take Him to them. None of us knows when the loveliest hour of our life is striking. It may be when we take Christ for the first time to that grey office in the city where we work, to the wretched lodging of that poor man who is an outcast, to the nursery of that pampered child, to that battleship, airfield, or camp..” By Caryll Houselander

Loose ends were tied up while at Mass the day after attending the first time ever Olive Mass. What resulted was another way of looking at things, it was to consider the run of recent trials as the shuffling of the cards by God.
All this was the preparatory phase for being able "hear the word of God and to keep it", so to speak. It's to know when to "hold em" or "fold em" that sets us up to win.
Playing the right cards at the right time, Jesus will surely help us to do.
The still small voice must not be drowned out by our own will. Too often our (MY) will is speaking and echoing uncontrollably to our(MY) detriment.
The still small voice must not be drowned out by our own will. Too often our (MY) will is speaking and echoing uncontrollably to our(MY) detriment.
Feeling that all the trials are serving as an earthquake, purposefully to cultivate my heart. When speaking to Lisa about everything that's going on lately, she replied: "all this shows you are on the right track, you know that". Roxanne said: "Just a test of FAITH for now, HE CAN N WILL MAKE IT BETTER....a voice of experience". Similar sentiments came from Mae. My real consolation is from God, who by His 24/7 watch, is helping me day in and day out so that things are not too overwhelming. He is sending unexpected assistance, prayers and encouragement through others (naming a few: Huey, Colleen, Deregal, Cathy, Janet, and a post forwarded to me by Fr. Peter recently was a big help. It inspired me to approach my Padre Pio picture and inform him of how much his help would be appreciated). Graces galore are enabling me to hold fast with trust. Doing the best possible, so mercy most certainly will pick up the slack, in Jesus' name. Amen and amen!!!
With the stage set, here comes a chance meeting with the friar, Fr. Antonio. Wasn't thinking at the time, but he is in the diocese of Bishop Fabre, who is from my home town. We are so glad he can trace his roots to our town, how proud we are of Bishop Fabre. Fr. Antonio's accent so reminds me of my beloved Fr. Peter, although they are from two different countries: Australia and New Zealand. Hearing about Fr. Antonio's life style of hitchhiking in pilgrimage to Mexico City, taking two Australian young women from Louisiana depending totally on Providence, was for me the catalyst for like the Michael Jackson song says: "Wanna be startin something". God always wants to be "startin something", it is about growth in holiness. No, no, not thinking about hitchhiking anywhere, it is more about being totally dependent upon God.

Seeing the juxtaposition of friar Fr. Antonio's hitchhiking life style with what my spiritual life style needs to be, simply illustrates the need for me to become a spiritual hitchhiker. To break that down means, trusting in Providence in every way, and being patient, very patient, waiting until God acts. Hitchhikers can't be expecting to get a ride the minute they get out there. It may happen, but it very well may take a while, sometimes a very long while. The Friar and the sisters depend on others for food and lodging, they trust God to act, that He will most certainly provide for them every step of the way. It's to do the same spiritually, when hiking spiritually one must trust God to deliver at the appointed time as we stand in prayer, in peace, in trust, doing our part, then letting go and letting God. Doing so allows Him to be so proud of us for not discrediting Him. What unhappiness He feels, how His heart aches when we distrust Him. This is well discussed in the Diary of Divine Mercy. Plan on getting to work on halting the vacillation process, and making God proud by trusting like a hiker.

"As the Little Friars & Little Nuns of Jesus and Mary (www.poorfriars.net) are a new reality in the United States, this website was created to answer some of the often asked questions about Fr. Friar Antonio's ministry.
The Little Friars & Little Nuns of Jesus & Mary:
We are a Religious Community of poor brothers and sisters with the charism of other than being semi contemplative (maintaining female cloistered life in a convent distinctly separate from that of the male's),
is that of sending souls to the Catholic Sacraments, through frequent Evangelization along the streets of the world…
In short words our charism, is parallel as both that of the first Carmelites and to that of the first Franciscans living in total poverty, simplicity and in a professional nature. We want to become Saints and to live 100% the Gospel in communion with our Holy Mother Catholic Church, all for the Salvation of the most number of souls and for the major Glory of God.
Canonical approval Little Friars & Little Nuns of Jesus & Mary:
We have been Recognized by the Catholic Church at a Diocesan level, as Public Association in anticipation of becoming an Institute of Consecrated Life with an Episcopal Decree of the 30th of May 2014.
Friar Antonio Maria Speedy:
Born and raised in the Adelaide hills of South Australia (Baptized as Matthew Farrugia), after Highschool, completed a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication (Illustration) at Underdale University. With such, step by step I began forgetting my Catholic roots that were deeply embedded within my heart (especially after my first Holy Communion in a visit to my parent’s home of the Mediterranean Island of Malta at the age of nine). Soon, almost all of my interests in Sunday Mass were washed away like a slurry from my heart though the Australian phenomenon of “Pub crawling”. I later began working in an Adelaide born Animation studio where I then found work as a scenic painter in the Australian film industry. Gaining enough money to pay for my future European voyage of “self-discovery” I visited family in Malta and felt the need to discover the world through “entertaining my senses”, so "naturally" (humanly speaking), I headed out looking for the biggest and best new year’s eve 2000 celebration.
Alas, no substance, place or person could fill that emptiness in my heart except for the God I had long ago abandoned. Thanks be to Him, “the little lost sheep Matthew” had a mother and Grandmother praying to Our Lady of Fatima for a speedy conversion (A little as Pope Francis’ said in his Angelus message of Sunday the 21st of April) and pushed buy a divine fire in his heart, “the little lost sheep Matthew” decided to return to his family in Malta for Christmas and New year’s eve.
It was in this voyage from London to Malta, that my life took a dramatic turn. Descending through Sicily to get to Malta, I arrived to Catania where I chose to spend a night on the streets to experience the life of the poor. After an intense payer to understand my very own existence, I turned the corner where there before my eyes I found answers. I met there for the first time the Poor Friars, the community’s founder, my faith in God and also my unique and unrepeatable vocation – my mission in life to become a Friar and Priest of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Catholic Church (I would later understand some of these with time).
After the first encounter with the Friar Volantino, I desired to consecrate my life as a friar; first having to return to Australia to mature in my faith before having the courage to leave all I claimed as "my own". Discerning with a Priest that “maybe” the Lord was calling me to Diocesan Priesthood in my birth town of Adelaide I entered into Seminary at Sydney in 2002 where I studied Philosophy and was made a Lector by Cardinal George Pell.
Leaving Seminary, I returned to Italy in 2003 to begin my formation with the Poor Friars. Whilst learning Italian I re-entered seminary at Calabria’s Southern Italian Pontifical Theological Institute in 2005 and later Friar Volantino then asked me to complete my studies in Rome at the Lateran Pontifical University where I was instituted an Acolyte in the Lateran Baptistery by the Lateran Pontifical University's rector, Mons. Dal Covolo.
Invited to America in 2010, Friar Volantino began discernment with the Local Bishop of Houma-Thibodoax to have me found a community of Poor Friars as I made annual Summer visits. In October of 2012 we returned as a community to Houma where I was then ordained a transitional Deacon by Bishop Jacobs on the 15th of Feb. 2013. Returning to Rome in anticipation of my American Religious visa, Friar Volantino and Sister Veronica arranged for me to serve Pope Francis as Deacon for the 2013 Mass and procession of Corpus Domini at St. John Lateran's Basilica to Santa Maria Maggiore's Basilica, Rome.
Ordained a Priest of our Lord Jesus Christ on the 6th of December 2015 by Bishop Shelton Fabre, by his appointment I became the Chaplin for the Diocesan Office of Evangelization, serving the Diocesan Priests by celebrating Mass in their Parishes on Weekends whilst dedicating our weekdays the community's Spiritual and Evengelizational activities."

"Since ancient times humans have been fascinated with angels and how they work. Much of what we know about angels outside of Sacred Scripture is taken from the Church Fathers and Doctors, as well as from the lives of the saints and the experience of exorcists. Listed below are 25 interesting facts you may not know about God’s powerful heavenly ministers!
👼🏼1. The angels are entirely spiritual beings; they do not have material bodies.
👼🏼2. Angels have an intellect and a will, just like humans.
👼🏼3. God created the complete hierarchy of angels altogether in one instant.
👼🏼4. The angels are ordered into nine “choirs” and are ranked according to their natural intelligence, far above human intelligence.
👼🏼5. The highest angel in rank of natural intelligence is Lucifer (Satan).
👼🏼6. Each individual angel has its own unique essence and is therefore a distinct species, as different from one another as trees, cows, and bees.
👼🏼7. Angels have personalities that differ from one another, similar to humans.
👼🏼8. Angels are infused with a perfect knowledge of all created things, including human nature.
👼🏼9. Angels do not know particular events to occur in history, unless God wills that knowledge for a particular angel.
👼🏼10. Angels do not know what graces God will give to certain humans; they can only infer it by observing the effects.
👼🏼11. Each angel was created for a specific task or mission, of which they received instantaneous knowledge at the moment of their creation.
👼🏼12. At the moment of their creation angels freely chose whether to accept or reject their mission, a choice forever locked into their will without remorse.
👼🏼13. Each human being from the moment of their conception has a Guardian Angel assigned to them by God to lead them to salvation.
👼🏼14. Human beings do not become angels when they die; rather, the saints in heaven will take the position of the angels who fell.
👼🏼15. Angels communicate with one another by passing concepts mind to mind; the higher intelligence angels can empower the intellect of the lower ones to grasp the concept being communicated.
👼🏼16. Angels experience intense movements in their will, different from but similar to human emotions.
👼🏼17. Angels are far more active in the life of humans than we realize.
👼🏼18. God determines when and how angels can communicate with humans.
👼🏼19. Good angels help us to act in accord with our created nature as rational human beings, fallen angels the opposite.
👼🏼20. Angels don’t move from location to location; they instantaneously act where they apply their intellect and will, which is why they’re depicted with wings.
👼🏼21. Angels can prompt and guide the thoughts of humans, but cannot violate our free will.
👼🏼22. Angels can take information from your memory and bring an image into your mind in order to influence you.
👼🏼23. Good angels bring to mind imagery that helps us do the right thing according to God’s will; the fallen angels the opposite.
👼🏼24. The degree and kind of temptation from fallen angels is determined by God according to what is necessary for our salvation.
👼🏼25. Angels don’t know what is happening in your intellect and will, but they can surmise by watching our reactions, behavior, etc.
Scripture tells us that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses

Scripture tells us that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses
and suggests that we may be unaware of how angels are interacting with us at times
Knowing these few facts about the angels and how they work can help us be more aware of their influence over our lives.
We should pray to be able to recognize more clearly the promptings we receive from the angels to either follow God’s will or oppose it, so that we will choose the good with confidence and avoid that which is bad for us."
