Maxims or Aphorisms once a week, to keep us from becoming weak
Debuting the first Maxim
"Let thy words be few in the midst of many", by St. Teresa of Avila
MTA (My Take Away) = We do have two ears and one mouth, so that says something right there. Find myself talking too much and interrupting others when they are speaking. Working on that habit (vice). If one is to grow, it occurs by listening rather than talking. Lord, teach me to listen.

🔴 "If our religion is the truth, if the gospel is the word of God, we must believe and put it into practice, even if we are absolutely the only ones to do so. And he left for the desert, alone". By Blessed Charles De Foucauld
🔵 "Why follow ye after the last things, as though the first, which is vanity and a lie? For you would have them abide with you, which all pass away, as does a shadow". By St. Augustine
⚫️ "Many of the people who look forward to a long life put off doing good works, since they think that they will have plenty of time before they die. As for me, I prefer to be among those who consider that they have no time to lose if they wish to give God all the glory that they can before they die". By St. Margaret of Hungary

Five days into the New Year, the idea came at Mass to introduce something new. It's a part of the personal agenda being set by The Lord for me to further my growth. This year the concentration will be on a "Trinity" of areas. It's to grow in wisdom, become more virtuous, and go deeper into the interior life of prayer. Killing two birds with one stone is where "Maxims" and "Aphorisms" come in. Hopefully incorporating wisdom in one's life will produce an openness to grace, resulting in the consistent practice of virtues for one's own good, others good, and God's glory. May the addition of the "Pizza Bite Snacks" assist our growth. The first "Rhema" word for this year is virtue (Bernadine was the instrument to usher it in), and the Holy Spirit led me to explore Maxims. Looking back over some past prepared drafts, something turned up from 2011. To be precise it was on 10-03-11, that the following material being used as a potato dish was compiled. God knew the day the material would be shared. Check out the potato dish being served up today.

👣Often times you may find yourself running errands enjoying the sun
👣Or frantically scurrying around trying to get chores done
👣With a love in your heart to spiritually dine & have a glass of wine
👣A full schedule not permitting this, but a treat for which your heart in sorrow can pine
👣Happily sharing a remedy, whipping up a new creation
👣Hoping the tasty, freshly prepared treat will be for you a real spiritual sensation
👣How about a Maxim or an Aphorism as a quick Pizza Bite Snack?
👣Dead centered in truth, they'll help you get securely on track
👣Into your life, no doubt from them will surely come
👣Common sense and much spiritual wisdom
👣Just take a little time, internalize & slowly read
👣Amazing will be results from the growth of such a small planted seed

"MAXIM - A concise formulation of some fundamental principle or rule of conduct.
Maxims of St. Teresa of Avila...St. Teresa of Avila is one of the great Saints of the Church, canonized for her heroic life of virtue and holiness. A successful imitator of Christ. She and all of the Saints were not born that way however; they were born like everyone else in original sin, and had to be corrected by their parents. One particular thing that they DID do was to have the "desire" to be a Saint. As St. Thomas Aquinas said, if you want to be a Saint "will it".
The Saints willed it with a constant desire, and used the ordinary means given to us by Our Lord - the Church and Her sacraments - which were instituted for that very reason for all men. Above this the Saints followed their personal vocation in life pointed out by God as would best secure their own salvation. For a great many people the married life will best secure salvation. For Saint Teresa, she was to enter the Carmelite order as a cloistered religious nun, and work towards that pinnacle of perfection by taking the vows and devoting her life to prayer and the imitation of the Saints.
For those who are called to remain in the world single or married, they must also strive 'according their vocation' for spiritual perfection. According to "The Spiritual Life" by A. Tanquerey, so often used as a text book in seminaries this century, we read of the obligation that all Catholics have to make constant progress in the spiritual life: "in the state of fallen nature, one cannot for long remain in the state of grace without striving at the same time to make progress in the spiritual life and to exercise oneself from time to time in the practice of some of the evangelical counsels."
"It is evident that one who would merely aim at avoiding mortals sin would not be living according to the standard of moral conduct outlined in the Gospel. Our Lord proposes to us as the ideal of holiness the very perfection of Our Heavenly Father: "Be ye therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect." Hence, all having God for their Father must approach this divine perfection - which evidently cannot be accomplished without progress." Saint Teresa of Avila fought "the good fight". To help her fulfill her desire to become a Saint she followed "maxims" which helped remind her what she must do according to Catholic moral doctrines.
The "maxims of St. Teresa":
🗣 Those who are religious can follow these at face value since they pertain especially to those who are in the "state of perfection" in the religious life.
🗣 For those whose vocation is single or married in the world, they can determine how to apply these in their own state in life.
Virtue is the mean between two extremes. It takes desire, prayer and effort to follow these according to ones state in life without going to extremes by excess or defect. For instance, when we look at #3 "Let thy words be few in the midst of many", we realize that a salesman or politician must know how to speak-out when practicing his business without failing to follow it to some degree at other times when he is not acting officially"

"Anyone who’s followed "Fallible Blogma" for awhile knows that I love Mother Teresa quotes. Here I’ve compiled seven of them (into seven simple steps) that help me every day. Try reading them daily (or weekly) to help keep priorities in order and life in proper perspective. No matter how many times I read them, I always end up more inspired than I was before.
🖍Step one: Slow down.
“I think the world today is upside down. Everybody seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater development and greater riches and so on. There is much suffering because there is so very little love in homes and in family life. We have no time for our children, we have no time for each other; there is no time to enjoy each other. In the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world.”
🖍Step two: Make some room.
“If you are discouraged it is a sign of pride because it shows you trust in your own power. Your self-sufficiency, your selfishness and your intellectual pride will inhibit His coming to live in your heart because God cannot fill what is already full. It is as simple as that.”
🖍Step three: Open your eyes.
“Each one of them is Jesus in disguise.”
🖍Step four: Put great love into the small things.
“In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.”
🖍Step five: Do not tire.
“Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired.”
🖍Step six: Remember – it’s faithfulness, not success.
“God doesn’t ask that we succeed in everything, but that we are faithful. However beautiful our work may be, let us not become attached to it. Always remain prepared to give it up, without losing your peace.”
🖍Step seven: Leave the rest to Jesus.
“Be humble and you will never be disturbed. It is very difficult in practice because we all want to see the result of our work. Leave it to Jesus.”
